Bio: Risa Dickens and Amy Torok are the co-authors of New Moon Magic: 13 Anti-Capitalist Tools for Resistance and Re-enchantment which is coming out next Spring from North Atlantic Books, and Missing Witches: Reclaiming True Histories of Feminist Magic, which came out in Spring 2021. These books offer a strange mix of history, memoir, and meditation. Missing Witches sold 10 000+ copies in its first 6 months and BUST magazine wrote “Dickens and Torok teach us what it means to create art, engage in activism, and exist at the intersection of witchcraft and feminism.”
Risa Dickens and Amy Torok are the co-creators of the Missing Witches Podcast. Launched in September 2018 — one month before Risa gave birth to her daughter May — the show’s episodes vary from researched histories of real magical practitioners, to interviews, panel conversations and meditations. The show is written, produced, recorded, edited, and hosted by Risa and Amy. It is created in collaboration with their coven community at patreon.com/missingwitches. The Missing Witches Coven is a witchy, science-loving study group/informal book club working collaboratively to seek and center marginalized ideas and possibilities; and a mutually-supportive space to be honest about how fucked up racism,
misogyny, misogynoir, ableism, heteronormativity and capitalism are and to mourn; and also a space to CACKLE WICKEDLY and HOWL WILDLY together and to seed within each other ways to survive, resist, re-enchant and FLOURISH.
